Confindustria is now one hundred years old. For the past century, this organization has been a testament to both the bond among and the endeavours of the many companies that, though having different ownership structures and names, have been actively involved in this association.
By respecting such fundamental qualities as entrepreneurial spirit, work, development and know-how, companies like Hausbrandt Trieste 1892 S.p.A. have significantly contributed to improving Italy and helping the country to grow.
During an awards ceremony on 26 May for companies that have played a leading role in this development, Hausbrandt received special recognition for its more than 100 years of history, culture and work.
The Hausbrandt tradition began in 1892 when Commander Hermann Hausbrandt, an officer in the Merchant Marine, decided to start a coffee trading and roasting business in Trieste, the primary Central European port for coffee importation. Over the years, the company quickly grew and become a symbol of Trieste. Hausbrandt achieved the prominent position it now holds in the world of coffee thanks to the efforts of Virginio Zanetti, who became the most successful green coffee importer in Italy after World War II.
The company's success has continued uninterrupted under the guidance of Martino Zanetti, Virginio Zanetti's son and Hausbrandt's current president.
Martino Zanetti has captured the market segment of consumers who prefer sophisticated products, giving a new value to high quality coffees.
Today, Hausbrandt Trieste 1892 S.p.A. is a successful company founded on a solid family tradition. One figure in the company who particularly stands out is Fabrizio Zanetti, the current Chief Executive Officer (who joined the company at a very young age) and a council member of the Giovani di Federalimentare National Council, a member organization of Confindustria that represents and protects the Italian food industry.
Following in the Central European tradition, in 2000 Martino Zanetti created Theresianer Beer %u2013 a premium-quality niche product that has won national and international awards. Zanetti's passion for wine led to the acquisition of the Col Sandago Vineyard in Pieve di Soligo and the Casa Bianche Vineyard in the heart of the Prosecco DOC zone.
On May 26 Hausbrandt, a company that has undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping Italy's identity, received an important and well-deserved recognition for its initiative and acumen.
